If the state is attempting to establish, or has established, your child support, we will help you verify that the state has accurately established the child support and your payments. If there is a claim for nonpayment of support, we can institute, or defend against, a contempt proceeding. We will also help you analyze the child support implications for the dependency exemption claimed on income taxes.

Filing a Paternity Suit

There are two ways that paternity suits can be filed in Florida. We represent both parties in both types of paternity suits:

Private paternity suits: Private paternity suits are most often filed by the mother and raise issues of child support and visitation rights. We provide representation to both sides in these cases.
State-filed child support suits: In these cases, the state files for support after a non-custodial parent, if the custodial parent has requested any type of assistance from the state. If the father wants custody or visitation, he will have to file a separate action. We provide defense for the parent being sued in these cases.
